See our 2 unique animals that you get special close access to: Arctic fox and Lynx . There are only 4 people who get access per day for an agreed meeting per animal species.
Mountain fox : every day in high season. Book access via our website or at the entrance.
Lynx : Only Tuesday and Thursday in high season. Book access via our website or at the entrance.

Sleeping on reindeer skins, you may be lucky enough to wake up to the teddy bears pawing outside on a bright summer night in the summer, or to be suddenly awakened by the howling of wolves on a starry winter night in the winter. - Exotic and very special all year round! Our 5 Gammer/ cabins are extremely popular and you must book your experience here in good time! NOTE. Seasonal opening hours* .
Breakfast is probably not included in the gams/cabins. You may have brought it yourself, - but you also have the opportunity to buy breakfast at Namsskogan Hotel on the other side of the E6 highway. It must be booked in advance. Telephone: +47 743 33 700
General info:
Remember to bring a good sleeping mat and a good sleeping bag, as only simple reindeer skins are laid out in gamma as a base; - which is cozy, but alone and only that; can be somewhat hard to lie on. In addition, it's a good idea to bring a torch in late fall and towards winter, as it can get very dark where you are. In the summer, from May to the beginning of August, there is some Arctic light/midnight sun all day long, weather permitting. We are close to the Arctic Circle. In the fall after that, as you know, it can quickly get dark. The cabins have a small wood-burning stove indoors and firewood is provided in the cabins. There is a barbecue area and seating outdoors. Firewood is included and available for use in the gams.
Bring your camera, you will have great and unique opportunities to take pictures of our animals and nature in good interaction.
PS. We have a drone camera ban without an approved license for use. Approval for use in the park area can be granted by the administration in the Family Park upon request .
You can visit the park in the evening to study the animals in peace and quiet - there's a special calm atmosphere here after the park closes.
You can sit around your Gamme/cabin with a fireplace and just enjoy the silence that may be broken by growling, perhaps snorting sleeping bears next to the vultures, or howling wolves in the evening. In the summer you can fish for trout in Tronestjønna inside the park, - fish weighing 1 kilo are certainly not uncommon! Boats, canoes or cycle boats can be borrowed free of charge if desired. Ask about it at reception . Note: life jackets are mandatory! - You can borrow them free of charge from us before borrowing boats, at the Kiosk in high season before 5 pm or upon request, if you arrive later. In low seasons, different sizes are laid out at the Kiosk, or ask us at the entrance to the Park. Put life jackets back, and tie up boats at the same lending point!
You will find toilets and a water supply at Fjellstu, close by. We have the cleanest clear tap water straight from Tromsfjellet. You can find a shower and wash clothes after your stay in our sanitary building at the Campingen next to the hotel .
Storgamma at Fjellstu, including firewood, is for use by our predator campers.
The swimming pool is open in low season only on Friday and Saturday 5-7pm. High season every day 5-7pm except Sunday. See info here .
The accommodation itself is NOK 1850,- per gamme per night. There is room for 5 people per gamme. Check-in at Rovdyrcamp can be done from 14:00 until the Park's closing time. See our opening hours for different seasons. You can also book your camp directly at our entrance to the Family Park. However, a day ticket to the park is required if you arrive and stay 1 hour before closing time at 18:00 in high season . Or 1 hour before closing time at 17:00 in low season. Check-out and delivery of the key for the stay at the camp is by 11:00 the following day. All seasons.
If for various reasons you may arrive later than the Park's closing time, we will still give you an opportunity to grant access to the Park and hand over the key to your grandchild. You will then fill out the prescribed registration papers that will be left for you at an agreed location. This is agreed in advance by contacting the administration of the Family Park.
Please call us as soon as possible if you plan to arrive later than the Park's closing time.
Please contact us about anything at the Hotel Reception on the common number +47 74 33 37 00. Ask to be contacted by the Family Park/Rovdyr Camp. - We solve most of it there.
Check-out the next day after your stay is by 11:00 . Exit, key and check-out for your stay is via the reception/entrance to the Family Park every day. A new day ticket for the park is required after check-out at 11:00 if you want 1 more day in the Park. Earlier check-out, such as on a possibly very early morning, is agreed with us in advance. We can also solve that.

winter season *
As far north as we are, we have around 2 months of partial darkness November - January and as a big plus we often experience in all the beautiful winter months during the winter period; - the fantastic Northern Lights , which play magically in the night sky. And you can experience the wolves in the Park howling at the moon… The very best cold weather up here - This must be experienced! Lots of snow - The crunch of shoes in icy snow at -10, -20 degrees.. Fantastic! Then our bears sleep safely in their dens, and our many other animals and birds that are supposed to be there are in houses and stables. - Apart from the wolf, lynx, wolverine, and ungulates such as moose, reindeer, deer; - our beautiful foxes etc. They are then in winter activity. Exciting!
Winter entry will be very limited.
Ps. Bear release, the awakening from winter sleep for our bears in the spring is around March. Special animals this. It will be announced when on our website and social media in advance about the opening. You have to experience this!
