Camping
The campsite has 64 pitches with electricity. The electricity rate is 16 amp. 220 volts. As we do not have marked pitches, it is rarely possible to pre-book a pitch at the campsite. However, it is very rare that we have to turn anyone away. Otherwise, a minimum of 4 metres is required between parking spaces on all sides of caravans/motorhomes/tents/cars, due to established fire safety requirements. See the form provided at reception regarding pitch/parking requirements.
Note New rules for camping and fire safety (nhoreiseliv.no )
The campsite has paved roads with green areas around. The ground conditions are good draining gravel. Close to hotel, shop, kiosk, gas station/electric car chargers, bar, restaurant/inn. Large play areas for children. The campfire hut right outside is often a gathering place for our guests on our camping .
Only 100 meters on the opposite side of the E6 is Namsskogan Family Park.
You can fish with us in the area almost anywhere. We have Trøndelag/Nordlands Nature Park , Børgefjell , in all seasons with our countless fishing lakes and mountain areas nearby. Fishing cards are sold online and in most shops nearby. Everything from 1 day to longer periods. See Namsskogan Fjellstyre or inatur . Remember to clean your own fishing equipment thoroughly before fishing due to possible diseases. See signs for roads into the mountains and possible payment for access via app or text message to the various forest roads by different landowners. The campsite has separate sanitary facilities with changing rooms, showers and toilets. Separate shower and toilet for the disabled. In the same building there is a shared kitchen with 2 shared ovens and a separate laundry room. At Trones you can also get the cleanest clear spring water from your nearest water tap, - water straight from Tromsfjellet via the Tromselva.
We have several washing machines and dryers for your needs. Tokens for this use can be purchased at the reception at the Hotel. Remember to bring enough tokens for your use!
You will also find space outside the camping area to empty dirty water and a toilet for caravans/motorhomes. Established own designated space, possibly ask at the reception.
Close to the sanitary facility/pool there are 2 large containers for household waste.
PS We really appreciate your own practiced source sorting of different waste in suitable bags, due to our common concern for the environment!
Residual waste other than household waste is not allowed in our containers.
You can probably take such waste yourself to the nearest collection station. For example: MNA

Check out our fantastic upper Namdalen Winterland here at Trøndelag/Nordlands Nature Park, Børgefjell .
We have 32 pitches in winter. Be early with your order here! You can go skiing on long quiet slopes. Alone in the forest, lonely and with the quiet sound of animals, birds and rivers, streams - many high mountain villages. Completely unique in still untouched nature. You can fish in all seasons everywhere, with our countless fishing lakes. Cards for fishing are sold online and in most shops nearby. Everything from 1 day to longer. See Namsskogan Mountain Board . Remember to clean your own fishing equipment well before fishing because of any introduced diseases.
We also have the option of snowmobiling for those who wish; - which is then laid out in completely separate trails , which our guests appreciate very much. Experience and for those particularly interested last winter, is that now most snowmobiles have 4-stroke engines and are kinder environmentally and noticeably quieter in terms of noise in the terrain when used. Access to long routes throughout Trøndelag and Nordland. - And towards Sweden. Access and joint connected use of trails to Sweden; our close and dear neighbor, is still under joint consideration. We await an answer.
See also : - where are we going - and where are we driving ? -See part of it here: Namsskogan | snowmobile trails . If we all behave in a nice way, Sweden may be able to allow us to share trails between our two countries . However, this obliges many of us to be noticeably responsible and nice driving . Only then can the trails become endless. We have jointly planned miles of trails in the vicinity for both users of our mountains. With very good fishing opportunities and bonfires for both skiers and snowmobile drivers. We hope we can get our landowners and our dear neighbor Sweden on board with this.

Sights and a bit of history:
Trongfoss in Namsskogan municipality at the former Flåtådal Station is a special sight. Where the Namsen in the special two-part lock of a rock section divides and the entire enormous amount of water rushes down Trongfossen , over 25m down into a gorge and down a 300m long river valley/canyon. Created by the ice age, during spring floods this is an adventure! But also just as beautiful in summer when the water level is lower.
Unfortunately, some people today want to tame Trongfoss and produce electricity, dam it up and then destroy our own original Trongfoss because of more electricity for the supposed “green” shift. We as a Nature Park in our small village Trones disagree with this. This is possibly now considered one of the last untouched river valleys/canyons we have in Norway. (see Altavassdraget ).
The Namsen, which flows freely after thousands of years, now only has a few free kilometers, and from adjacent water areas in Røyrvik Municipality has already been greatly and increasingly affected in terms of nature for a long time since about 1950/60 by very large hydroelectric developments. Tunnsjøvassdraget and Namsvatnet .
* The "Queen of the Rivers" is threatened by pollution and genetic modification of salmon .
* NrK: Inspection at Trongfossen .
* Namsblanken, -our small unique salmon species from Namsen that is only trying to survive, -since the Ice Age .
ATTENTION A visit here is beautiful - but is currently a partly dangerous area to move in due to steep slopes, and travel down to the waterfall is entirely on nature's terms and at your own risk !
We at Namsskogan Family Park still believe that the Namsen River, and not least Trongfossen , should be a natural river and an original waterfall to see and enjoy for all visitors. We would rather gradually secure this experience of nature and this unique waterfall better for our future visits. Possibly establish plateaus/safety and access so that visiting tourists and permanent residents can enjoy this rare waterfall. There was once a suspension bridge over the gorge. At that time there was a small trading shop at Flåtådal. Over the Namsen you walked with heavy loads in sacks with food and necessities for mountain farms such as the small mountain village of Strompedalen, taking care along the way of animals and possibly collecting various livestock. The suspension bridge was demolished due to risk and lack of maintenance around 1950-60. The foundations of the bridge still stand in the rock on both sides of the Namsen. The railway opened Flåtådal station around 1940.

It is currently about 1.2 km of easy walking along a road to go north on the footpath from the campsite , and then about 200 meters of walking on a weakly marked path in the forest down to the waterfall.
No public road established at this time. Driving to/parking/overnight camping in a camper or tent at this area is currently privately owned and not permitted .

Thrones as a center somewhat seen in the middle Namsskogan The municipality developed from small, hard-working small and large farms, crafts, timber work, railway construction and a forestry community, a state-run farm with driftwood of spruce plants, and a parish church built as early as 1832. And a secondary school and boarding school for long-distance children in the municipality before 1970. Skorovas Gruber became a major project and major development for the municipality from around 1950. -The operation of the mine seen by a worker/miner . And a story behind the operation from the mining community.
Someone in Trones around 1965 wanted to create a shopping center. In a forest. Small shop in a corner of a house at first, after each year a small shop and extra kiosk for chainsaws etc. Then a larger shop, a roadside inn, camping , a motel. Construction of a larger hotel was after the establishment of Familiepark.
Around 1987, a unique Animal Family Park was conceived and established by enthusiasts and several villagers who believed in something that could become something big. Many permanent residents of the village worked countless hours to build this and eventually became part-owners/shareholders in this development from the start. It was from the start only a small village project.
Namsskogan Family Park opened in 1989.
Something had to be done about Skorovas Gruber was decided to close in 1985. With regard to insecure people and jobs . Trones also established its own local radio station. A primary school and kindergarten had already been established at Trones. Children from Trones in the 1970s before closure had to go to secondary or upper secondary school to Skorovas. It is 30 kilometres one way. Every day on bad roads up to the mountain. In winter storms. About a new school and a nice new swimming pool, this went well. At that time, Elkem did a lot of good and useful things for society, buildings and maintenance for people during the mining in Skorovas. In 1986, unfortunately, it ended. The mine and the mountain had no more to give financially after about 30 years.
This small village has produced many fine musicians. Among others, Isa Kathrine Gericke , Kor i Namsskogan , Gnagsåret . And all kinds of other musical performances in all years. Rock, old dance, etc. The same small municipality. Terje Tysland has his genes from here. There are many composers and musicians in all genres from the village that we are proud of.
